The 1936 Chevy is one of the most unique cars we have had the chance to build. We were asked to fit a full on purpose built drag race car into a 1936 Chevy body and retain the looks of the car as it was found. The body of the car, best described as earth tone, was untouched other than removing the wood and adding 2”wider rear fenders. Under the 75 year old skin we built a custom tube chassis to meet SFI spec 25.4. This allows the car to run as fast as 7.50 seconds in 1/4 mile. Ensuring the car goes that fast is a 632 ci big block Chevy with over 900hp, connected to that is a 2 speed power glide tranny , with a custom built torque converter and trans brake. A 3.5” chrome-moly driveshaft attaches that to a strange nodular 9” rear end. A chrome-moly 4-link and adjustable coilovers keeps the rear end located under the car. Keeping the car in a straight line is a mustang II front suspension and adjustable coilovers with rack and pinion steering. Stopping the car from speeds in excess of 150 mph come by the way of wilwood disk brakes and a parachute just for good measure. The car is also out fitted with a full MSD electronic ignition system, and the vital signs and displayed thru auto meter gauges. A true foe to watch out for at the tracks.
